A Fresh Take on Electric Performance

The 2025 Audi Q4 e-tron lineup sees a notable evolution, with the Q4 40 e-tron being replaced by the more powerful Q4 45 e-tron. This rear-wheel-drive model now boasts 210 kW (282 hp)—a 60 kW boost over its predecessor—thanks to a refined single electric motor. This upgrade reduces the 0-100 km/h time by 1.6 seconds to a brisk 6.3 seconds, making it a spirited contender in the luxury EV segment. For those craving more power and all-weather capability, the dual-motor Q4 55 e-tron quattro offers 250 kW (335 hp) and a 0-100 km/h sprint in just 5 seconds, paired with Audi’s legendary all-wheel-drive system.

Both variants draw energy from an 82 kWh battery (77 kWh usable), but the Q4 45 e-tron takes the lead in efficiency with an EPA-estimated range of 463 km—up 37 km from the Q4 40 e-tron it replaces. The Q4 55 e-tron, while slightly less efficient due to its dual-motor setup, still delivers a respectable 415 km of range. With DC fast-charging capabilities of up to 175 kW, the Q4 e-tron can recharge from 10% to 80% in about 28 minutes, ensuring minimal downtime on longer journeys.

Design: Sleek, Modern, and Unmistakably Audi

The Q4 e-tron’s exterior exudes Audi’s signature elegance with a modern electric twist. Its sculpted front and rear styling, paired with sleek S line badging (standard on the Q4 55 e-tron), creates a dynamic presence on the road. The available Black Optic package adds striking black accents to the grille, air inlets, and roof rails, while the Sport package (exclusive to the Q4 55 e-tron) enhances the look with 21-inch platinum gray wheels and a lowered sport suspension for a more aggressive stance.

Inside, the Q4 e-tron offers a serene and luxurious cabin. Standard leather seating surfaces and a variety of inlay options create an upscale ambiance, while the available dual-pane acoustic glass for the front windows ensures a whisper-quiet ride. The 40/20/40 split-folding rear seats provide versatile cargo space—up to 1,503 liters with the seats folded—making it as practical as it is refined. For tech enthusiasts, the now-standard Technology package includes Audi’s Virtual Cockpit Plus and MMI Navigation Plus, delivering a seamless and intuitive interface.

Technology and Safety: Ahead of the Curve

The 2025 Q4 e-tron is packed with advanced features to keep you connected and protected. The standard Technology package now includes traffic sign recognition and Audi Connect services, enhancing both convenience and awareness. Optional upgrades like Matrix-design LED headlights (standard on Prestige trims) offer customizable light signatures, while a suite of driver assistance systems—such as blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, and adaptive cruise control—ensures peace of mind.

Why the Q4 e-tron Stands Out

While official South African pricing for the 2025 Q4 e-tron has not been confirmed, we can estimate based on its U.S. pricing and the local market. In the U.S., the Q4 45 e-tron Premium trim starts at $51,095 (approximately R919,710 at 1 USD = 18 ZAR). Accounting for import duties, VAT, and Audi’s premium positioning in South Africa, a starting price of around R1,250,000 is plausible. The range-topping Q4 55 e-tron Prestige, priced at $63,095 in the U.S. (R1,135,710), could land closer to R1,550,000 locally. These estimates position the Q4 e-tron competitively against rivals like the BMW iX3 (starting around R1,300,000) and Mercedes-Benz EQA (around R1,200,000), offering exceptional value in the luxury EV market.
